English As A Foreign Language

Liverpool is a very famous city most renowned for its culture, nightlife and of course, the Beatles. In this warm and vibrant city you can spend your holiday learning the English language and culture whilst enjoying many of the things Liverpool has to offer, for example, sports centres, theatres, cinemas, museums, clubs, excellent shopping centres, a safari park, two successful football teams and of course, very warm and open people.

The Academy is situated in an attractive area within easy reach of a beautiful country park, and only 15 minutes from the centre by car.

A large part or the courses offered at the LLA is dedicated to techniques in English conversation; we also develop the student’s knowledge of English grammar, and skills in listening, pronunciation, writing compositions, reading and comprehension.

Students have the choice of studying 3 or 4 hours daily from Monday to Friday. There are 5 levels of English at the Academy: elementary, lower intermediate, intermediate, upper intermediate and advanced. The participant choosing any of these levels receives a high degree of personal attention and plenty of opportunities to practice their English.

Certificates are presented on completion of the course.

Group tuition

A general English language course is provided for groups of a minimum of 3 (maximum 6), which covers everyday language usage. This course gives confidence to individual students to cope in everyday situations and helps to achieve their full academic potential.

One-to-one tuition

One-to-one tuition is often the preferred option for business executives and other people who need to make rapid progress in a short time. The teaching materials are adapted to the client’s individual needs and particular attention is given to highly practical situations which the client is most likely to encounter. The participant choosing this course often progresses from beginner to a level of confident communication in just a few weeks!

Commercial English

This is a tailor-made course for professionals requiring very intensive and highly specialized tuition. The course combines aspects of advanced structural and grammatical work with study of the language and customs of English business and commerce. (Please refer to our “languages for business page”.)

Free-time activities

Excursions to some of the most beautiful places in the north of England and Wales are optional, taking place over the weekends. The location of Liverpool is perfect for travelling to places such as Chester, the Lake District, Wales and York. Some afternoons during the week are also dedicated to several activities with our English assistants who are always available to help. Our activities include trips to the city centre, visits to museums, cinemas, bowling and more!
Students interested in weekend excursions may pay a small charge for them once they are here.
